Standing out in a crowded market.

Koura Apartments are newly developed architecturally designed short-stay apartments in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Our challenge was to help an entrepreneur with a vision bring his idea to life and make a name for themselves in the Queenstown hospitality industry.

From budgeting to funding, from naming to branding. A full business strategy and technical support were required to launch this new apart-hotel brand in a crowded market.

We were involved from the project’s inception, providing expertise in the project’s feasibility, the business case to acquire finance for construction, the operational budget, and the marketing strategy.

Once construction was underway, we thought about what the branding would look like. We wanted it to represent not only the unique design of the apartments but also New Zealand as a destination.

We decided on the name Koura (which means gold in Maori) based on Queenstown’s heritage as a gold mining town. The accent on the O leant towards a symbolic monogram.

We researched Koura’s likely audience based on their unique three-bedroom offering and created a full marketing and comm plan, with support to execute it.

We integrated a top hotel booking system into the website, allowing 3rd party booking sites such as booking.com, hotels.com, and Airbnb to be managed in one place. This allowed hotel management to spend less time on admin and more time on their customers.

The outcome was a successful through-the-line project.
